Happy Blogmas Day 3!
Today I wanted to share with you guys my favorite nail colors for Christmas. Christmas is such a festive time of year to get creative with everything so why would you leave nails out. I unfortunately don't get really creative, I like to keep everything classic when it comes to Christmas. I tend to go for darker colors and you will see that some of them are very similar but those are just the colors that I am attracted to personally.
I don't ever get my nails done at the salon but I prefer to save money so I paint my own nails. I use to be one of those serial "paint my nails everyday" people but after my nails started to break I started to take nail care a little bit more seriously.
Before I paint my nails I always trim my nails and file them, just to make sure that they are all the same length and that there isn't any breakage. Then I start by priming my nails with Butter London's Nail Foundation Priming Basecoat, it gives your nails a matte base and and protects your nails against staining from the darker colors.
Then it usually takes me a couple minutes to pick out a nail color, and after that I usually apply 2 coats. All of the colors that I'm going to share with you guys today are Essie but I definitely didn't pay full price for them, I bought them from Tjmaxx. They always seem to have a variety of colors and brands. I just feel like Essie is one of those brands that stay longer on my nails than most other ones.
I'll be naming all of the colors from left to right and giving a small description of each color. I took pictures in natural light so they are true to the color in the bottle.
1. Topless and Barefoot
Creamy beige on the pink-y side; I like to use this share of a chic barely there effort. Its simple yet works with every look.
2. Imported Bubbly
A shimmering beige-y gold; this color is very festive and gives you a bit of sparkle with minimal effort the only thing that I have to say about this color is that it is on the streaky side.
3. Buy Me a Cameo
This is a frosted brown color; more on the nude side but because of the frost it is easy to work with and still gives you a bit of sparkle without the glitter.
4. Check Me In
Rustic Orange-y Red; if you aren't a fan of a true red for the holiday season then this is a good alternative. Its still a red but not a true Christmas Red.
5. Maki Me Happy
Creamy Berry Red; it is similar to Check Me In but it is more of a red berry color. Not too red but not too berry. I like this color because it is so versatile.
6. Berry Naughty
Dark Berry with a Creamy finish; this color always make me feel put together and chic it has that ox blood feel without being completely dark. This is my go to for the holidays just because I like the darker reds.
7. Wicked
Ox Blood deep red; this is a deep almost black red. perfect for when you don't want to wear black. This color gives you a sinister dark feel I do have to say after a few uses it does start to clump up and take a while to completely dry.
After I have painted my nails and let them dry completely almost an hours time, I try to put a top coat on it. I have been using the Butter London's top coat and it makes my nails last longer that without.
Do you have any go to holiday colors?
Until Tomorrow
