As you all know I'm a senior in college, my brother who is younger than me is a freshman in college. like many other young ones they tend to dress up for their first year of college. My brother doesn't like that I like to wear the workout clothes to school, he doesn't understand why I wear it or how I can just wear it all the time and not care what people think. To be honest, I was one of those people who after dressing up everyday for high school thought it would carry over to college. For the first two years that I went to community college I did dress up. After I transferred to a real university I thought I would have to keep up dressing up especially with my major in fashion merchandising. So for the first couple of weeks I did dress up, I saw some people who really took dressing up seriously Then as the temperature started to get colder I realized I just wanted to be comfortable especially in fall when you can layer so many things. I continued to dress up for school but not as much as I was doing in the beginning of the semester. By the spring semester I was over it. I wanted to be comfortable and I realized nobody cared what I was wearing. Which leads me to the expectation of dressing for college:
Expectation:
It comes from you! You believe that you should dress a certain way for college and that everyone around you cares what you wear. You dress up everyday, you have to be professional, you have to be fashion forward.
Reality:
No one cares, and everyone wants to be comfortable. People wear gym clothes/workout clothes every day of class. In this Texas heat everyone wants to wear the least clothes as possible. It's easy and you waste no time in getting ready in the morning.
Final Thoughts:
It's all about you and being confident in yourself. Sure there are some times you will need/want to dress up for class especially if it is a guest speaker or a potential job opportunity. You want to dress to impress, but if you rather spend and extra 5 minutes having breakfast rather than doing your hair or make up go for it. Everyone is worried about themselves and worried about class that chances are they don't care if you have the latest trends. Plus we know as a college student you can't really afford the newest trends. If you don't dress up for school don't stress about it too much, you'll give your face a break from all the make up and let people see the real you, plus when you do decided to get dolled up you will receive more complements which will boost your already growing confidence.

Until next time!
