Generation Identification

This past week has been dare I say it hell. Okay not that bad but its felt that bad. You guys might know that I was going my MIT (manager in training) well that ended in April. During that time I was still working as an executive and waiting to get placed in a store and let me tell you. I was told one place and freaked out. I wasn't sure I was ready. I honestly didn't think I could do it but nothing was set in stone. I finally felt like I belonged and then unfortunately it all got ripped away not to sound dramatic or anything even though I know it sounds like that. They ended up telling me on  Monday where I was going and that I needed to be there by the following Monday. What? I know what your thinking its crazy. It was crazy, it is crazy.  They expected me to finish my shifts, find an apartment and move all in a matter of days. What the heck?!

All of this got me thinking.... Are we really in a time where young professionals are expected to jump at the drop of a dime?
Our generation has always been fast pace. We have grow with technology our whole lives adapting as it adapts but is this a consequence of nature? Just because we have adapted in such a way that we are ready to press fast forward on our lives? We all have goals and some of those goals require to be nourished and developed, sometimes we don't even realize we want those goals. I've worked with a lot of young adults who are ready to begin their lives and who want to make that money. But then we are expected to work crazy hours and just do whatever is necessary to keep up with school or work or even both.

Have we as a generation allowed such treatment because it is expected for us to adapt?

Or do we just get caught up in the motions of working everyday that we forget to live our live?

I feel like it isn't stressed enough the need for work life balance. That is essentially the key to our success. We cannot allow ourselves to be so overworked that we get burned out. Change is essential and allows us to see things more freely which in turn allows us to come up with and bring new fresh ideas to the table.

How do you guys feel about the identification of millennials?

Let me know in the comments below!

Until Next Time,

Noshka XOXO

  1. Our work is essential to our lives. However, when we allow the work to rule our lives we run the risk of being overworked, and quickly become burnt out. It is very hard to find the balance between life and work. It takes practice and work as well. Throughout my time in the work force I have only had two bosses who understood this need. They both told me concerning separate situations that I should put my life and family before my work. Even now I have a hard time believing that it is okay to the think this way. But both of them have flourishing careers and families so it must be true.

I really like this post. I like that you are vulnerable and honest. I have been praying for you. I hope your transition proceeds more smoothly. (by the way this Eryn - Nicolle's tall friend :)

  2. Thank you Eryn! It's not something I would usually post but it has been on my mind a lot lately. I believe there should always be an equal work life balance but sometimes its hard especially for our generation, because its all about making money.

  3. I really liked this post! The picture at the end did a really good job at summing it all up. I agree with you, finding the perfect balance is very much needed but a challenge to find. You'll figure it out! Looking forward to your next post. ☺

  4. Thank you! It is definitely hard but I think that we just need to do more than just exist to work, we should also have fun!
