Blogmas Day 5: Decorating on a Budget

Hey guys and welcome to Blogmas Day 5:

I know that Christmas is almost over but maybe this will give you guys some ideas for next year or maybe even when Christmas items go clearance (hint hint)

Besides my Christmas tree I like to decorate my apartment for Christmas because it gives it more of a warm inviting feel. Most of us are on a budget, and if you're a college student and you tend to go home over the break, you may think what is the point?

I think I have a way to help!

If you are like me you like to decorate, but you don't really like to spend the money when it comes to actually decorating. Most of the decorations I own have been purchased on clearance sales the day after Christmas. This year I wanted to add a few extra things around my apartment, especially since I have more space now.

Target has this dollar section right at the front of the store and they have a bunch of different products ranging from $1 to $5 dollars at most. That's where I decided to pick up a few extra bits and pieces.

I picked up this Merry Christmas board for 5 dollars that you can hang up or just prop up against the wall.

I picked up a pair of color changing lights as well as a pair of white ones that are on my wreath. These packs were each a dollar and batteries were not included but I picked mine up at the dollar store.

I also picked up this wooden red tree which I thought I could display on one of my tables or put it together with some other stuff to make a little cluster.

I also decided to DIY my own wreath for outside my front door. My mom gave me a plain wreath she wouldn't be using so I just bought a pack of shatter proof ornaments in the traditional red, white, and green and attached them with some floral wire. I then took the battery operated lights that I purchased at target and wrapped them around for optimal effect.

I felt like I had a section of my wall that was looking pretty bare so I decided to put up some tassels
that I bought at Wal-Mart. I did cut them in half to make them easier to hang because the weight was too much for the tape to hold. I went with silver and gold because they can be used over and over again and it made the wall space look less empty.

Like I mentioned before, I pick up the majority of my stuff the days after Christmas so if you guys are interested in seeing that once the holidays are over, please let me know in the comments below.

Do you have a secret spot where you pick up decorations? Let me know in the comments below!

Until Tomorrow!
